About Me

Well, hello! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I know that nowadays the web is chocked full of awesome and helpful blogs, so it’s humbling that you chose to visit mine. Go ahead an grab some coffee or tea, if you haven’t already, and let me tell you a little about me and my blog.

So, about me…

I’m Sarah – wife, mom, and baptized, born-again believer of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I live in beautiful, central Kentucky with my sweet (and stubborn) soulmate and best friend, Nathan. God has blessed me with two wonderful kids – Brendan and Stella – whom I love dearly and sometimes makes me a little crazy. But, what is life without a little cra-cra in it, right?

Why blog?

I love writing! I can’t emphasize how much joy writing brings to my soul. It’s essentially my happy place. Blogging was not my first choice though. If I could magically snap my fingers and have any successful writing career I wanted, I would be a novelist. I’ve written one complete inspirational romance, and I have a couple of others in progress. But, like many aspiring authors out there, my work isn’t published (yet!), which means no one is reading my work…and I still have a day job.

While I continue to work on my craft, I wanted a place I could write and share things that I’m passionate about and, hopefully, bless and inspire others. Words are just amazing like that – they have so much power! God’s Word, the Bible, is a perfect illustration of that. If my words can be a blessing to someone or inspire something good, even if they aren’t written in a novel, then what more can I ask for?

What you can expect to see on this blog.

I’ve been on a mission lately to slow down and live. I’m staring 40 in the face, and I’m really tired of waiting until I have more time. I’ve missed a lot of opportunities and blessings over the years busying myself with things when I didn’t need to. I can remember much different times in my childhood.

Growing up in the hills of eastern Kentucky defined simple pleasures. Sitting on the porch was not just a means of winding down. It was what we did. The wind chimes were our relaxation music, and the crickets were our white noise. Time seemed to stretch on forever, even after the sun finally slipped behind the tree-topped hills and stripped the valleys with gold. I didn’t realize it then, but I was living life how it was meant to be lived.

Times have definitely changed, but the hours still pass at the same rate they always have. Time doesn’t rob us of precious moments – we do that all on our own by running at warp speed and racing the sun to the finish line every single day. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of running.

If you’re in the same boat, follow me along! In addition to sharing my family’s everyday adventures, I’ll be sharing my thoughts and tips on simple living as it pertains to home, family, and even faith. Feel free to drop me a comment or send me a message from my contact page. I would love to hear from you! If nothing else, I hope you’ll find some inspiration to slow down and take time for the people and things that matter most to you.

Why “Our Kentucky Footprint?”

Although I grew up in eastern Kentucky, I moved and settled in central Kentucky when I got married over 20 years ago. Nate and I loved our small town, but it was very economically challenged, so we opted for a place that had the same small-town feel but with more opportunity. It was an adjustment at first, but after twenty years and two kids later, it has become our home – our small footprint on the big Kentucky map!

Footprints leave impressions, which are evidence of the past, and they tell a story. I hope the impressions that Nate and I leave behind are evidence of our love for Jesus and our family. I hope that our story inspires our children to slow down and take time for the people and things that mean most in their lives.
